Satsang with Oliver - Glossary

Terms and how I use them

Satsang

The term "satsang" coming from indian Sanskrit can be translated with "meet the truth". In satsang people are gathering around an awakened liberated teacher and feel the silence of Being which can be expressed either through words or through acoustic silence. Question may appear, answers may follow. Concepts, wishes, believes and hopes appear, are recognized as such and disappear again. Being is communicating with Being. No one is talking, no one is listening. In Satsang oneness shows oneness the absurdity of the game of separation.
Satsang is the endless mantra of the master who says that neither there is a master nor there is any master needed.
Mind won't get satisfied because it can't take anything with because there is nothing to take with. Mind won't understand the appearing answers. At the end mind accepts that it can't contribute anything to this last question and capitulates. Afterwards, impersonal knowledge will be there that nothing is wrong. That everything which was, is and will be is always THIS.

Advaita

The term "advaita" coming from indian sanskrit means "non-duality". Here is the definition I use in this website:
All there is, is the One without a second one. The One (called "the Self" by Ramana Maharshi, I use the term "Being") is always what IS in this moment. It can't be reached, nothing has to be done to reveal it, it can't be comprehended by mind and it can't be described through words. Words can only serve as a pointer to the truth. The final knowledge doesn't result from the words but in spite of the words (for "word" you can use any term you want, for example "meditation"). The last step, the jump into enlightenment can't be done because there is neither a way nor an abyss nor enlightenment. If this is realized (by no one) then there will be clarity, eternal freedom and peace.

Enlightenment

Enlightenment is just a concept. An empty mental thought-form arising without any reason out of what YOU are. There is no enlightened person. If enlightenment is apparently happens, it happens for no one. Enlightenment is the omission of the person who aspires enlightenment. What remains is pure impersonal seeing that everything is the One.

Separation

Everything in the apparent world of separation (manifestation) at the end leads back to the original thought of separation human being is beginning to identify with during the first years of life. It's the conviction I am a body, a separate creature with a free will who has to struggle and defend itself. All apparent problems lead back to this thought of separation. Life is a chess with an endless number of fields which can't be won by the tactic of the human mind. Checkmate is the omission of the thought of separation. What remains is impersonal oneness. Pure Being.

Conditioning

By conditioning I mean everything that impacts the body-mind-entity (human being) and have made it to what it is now in this moment: DNA (heredity), relationship (parents, brothers and sisters, people next to you), society, school, climate, place, universe, etc.). It doesn't matter what appears because it has nothing to do with you as essence. It appears in you, in the pure awareness. The Self, the Being isn't involved in this process, this film which takes place anyway. The screenplay is already written, the film is shot, all characters are played by you. You are the screen the film is projected on. Everything appears in you. Nothing is separated from you. You don't appear in the world but the world appears IN you.

Concept

A concept is a construct of thoughts. It is needed by mind (which is just a crowd of thoughts too) to classify things. To understand something which at last can't be understood.
Mind is the perfect knife. Its only purpose of existence is to separate. Everything has to be separated and integrated into a system. That's perfect. Without mind daily life would be impossible. But if mind wants to understand the One it has to fail. The purpose of a knife is to cut, not to join together. That's the reason why at the end concepts won't lead you to anything. Books with concepts only feed human mind. The only concept leading to THIS which can't be reached by concepts is the acceptance that no concept is needed. And also this concept is only a thought appearing and disappearing in YOU. Without any reason. Just like waves in the ocean.

Grace

Being doesn't know any grace because it is grace itself. Grace is always present. Grace is the only thing there is. Grace can't be given to somebody and you can't prepare for it. Grace is the invitation, the gift by the Being to itself to accept that all there is, is the One. Your essence.
